I’d post that my “Maria” was “Dana” and a friend helped me to do what we didn’t know was creepy or called “stalking” her all through my fifth grade. She defined that year for me. I bought her a cheap tacky fake diamond thingy from the neighborhood dimestore. I’m sure she’s forgotten me (if she ever did register me as being alive) but I’ll never forget her.
